Superheroes have a heroic attitude and supernatural powers they use to fight crime, battle supervillains and to protect the public. They are our favorite superheroes, but… Do you know how to talk about them and their characteristics in Chinese? No?!
Let’s learn more! The word to indicate Superheroes in Chinese is 超級英雄/超级英雄 (chāo jí yīng xióng).
SUPERMAN – 超人(chāo rén)
Kal-El was just a baby born on a planet called Krypton, when his parents placed him into a rocket bound for Earth. Once landed, he was found by Martha and Jonathan Kent, who took him in and raised him as their own son with the name of Clark Kent.
SUPERPOWERS 超能力 (chāo néng lì)
Superman’s super powers include super strength 超級力氣/超级力气 (chāo jí lì qì) , super senses, super speed 超級速度/超级速度 (chāo jí sù dù), invulnerability 刀槍不入/刀枪不入(dāo qiāng bù rù), heat ray 熱射線/热射线(rè shè xiàn) and flight 飛行/飞行 (fēi xíng) etc.
SPIDERMAN – 蜘蛛俠 / 蜘蛛侠 (zhī zhū xiá)
Pet Parker was just a teenager when he was bitten by a radioactive spider granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle, which he could have prevented, he learned how “with great power, comes great responsibility.” From then on, he started to protect the innocent from harm. That’s how Peter Parker became the Amazing Spider-Man!
SUPERPOWERS 超能力 (chāo néng lì)
Spiderman’s powers include spider’s leaping 跳躍能力/跳跃能力 (tiào yuè néng lì), wall-crawling 牆上行走/墙上行走 (qiáng shàng xíng zǒu), spider sense 蜘蛛感覺/蜘蛛感觉 (zhī zhū gǎn jué), super strength 強壯肌肉/强壮肌肉 (qiáng zhuàng jī ròu), super flexibility 靈活性/灵活性 (líng huó xìng), super balance 平衡感 (píng héng gǎn). He can also create and shoot strong spider web material 蜘蛛絲/蜘蛛丝 (zhī zhū sī).
BATMAN – 蝙蝠俠 / 蝙蝠侠 (biān fú xiá)
Bruce Wayne is a billionaire industrialist and notorious playboy, but in his secret identity, he is Batman, the superhero protector of Gotham City. As Batman, he wears a bat costume who fights against evil and strikes terror into the hearts of criminals everywhere. Although he has no superhuman powers, he is one of the world’s greatest fighters and smartest men.
SUPERPOWERS 超能力 (chāo néng lì)
The abilities that make Batman a superhero are a genius-level of intellect 天才智力 (tiān cái zhì lì) and a peak human physical condition 驚人的體能/惊人的体能 (jīng rén de tǐ néng). He’s a skilled martial artist 大師級的武術/大师级的武术(dà shī jí de wǔ shù) and an expert detective 高超的偵探能力/高超的侦探能力 (gāo chāo de zhēn tàn néng lì).
